Sounds Japanese, right? Well these guys are not from the land of raw fish and geisha’s, no sir, they are from the land of the cu-coo clocks and the oh so delicious Toblerone (brb, grabbing one …)

So, Dokodare is the product of Swiss-based Kaywa .
Dokodare is a system that links real life places to their virtual counterparts.
Let me illustrate that with an example.
You make a profile on the dokodare website (yes, yet another profile) and whenever you enter a bar or restaurant or even a supermarket you can log in virtually aswell. Making it easier for your friend or mafia hitmen to see where you are right now.
Now, what is this good for? I have no idea. If I want to let everyone know i’m in a bar right now i’ll post something on twitter or use my HTC hero’s facebook app to update my status.
I think dokodare could work very well if it were a plugin for facebook.
- use your cell phone to track where you are (gps, antenna triangulation, wireless internet)
- get a list of places from google maps
- Select the place where you are
- post it on facebook (name of the bar + google maps insert)
- Come home and write a review or photo’s …
Takes about the same time as a status update but it provides so much more. It keeps a track of all your places and you can easily browe through your friends’ places. And, while we are at it, it can suggest similar places nearby.
Although the realisation is (at this moment) rather dissapointing, the concept behind it is quite nice.
